![]() Machine: Device: desktop System: Gigabyte product: AB350-Gaming 3 serial: N/A Guys, here is the output from inxi -Fxzd: You can run "inxi -Fxzd" to see what version of "OpenGL" your system is running. I was able to install both Sketchup 20 and I can run the 2016 version, but because of my lousy video hardware I cannot run the 2017 version. I already had Linux Wine Staging, Winetricks, and PlayOnLinux (pol) installed for helping others in this forum install various MS Windows applications (photoline, Sketchup, etc.). I used instructions from the link below for Linux Mint 19.x (Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic) and installed the Sketchup 2016 free version using their Sketchup 2016 Make (free) MS Windows downloaded exe file from the downloads link I provided. But, you can usually install software as deb files from the PPA, or there are alternate instructions available. Just like there are various versions of MS Windows, there are various versions of Linux Mint and Linux and the instructions for installing software might be different depending upon your versions.įYI: Some Linux PPA's have not yet been updated to include the newer Linux Mint 19.x systems which is based on Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic. There are various versions of Sketchup like their new 2018 which runs from anyone's browser on any computer system without installing anything, their version 2017 (like a lot of newer software) requires OpenGL 3.x or higher capable video card which my ancient under-powered computer sadly cannot run, and then there is Sketchup 2016 "Make (free)" or "Pro" which does run on my system and other system that do not have good video cards. There are already very good to excellent Linux and cross-platform software applications for any software people used in MS Windows including Sketchup. I usually tell people to avoid using Linux Wine unless you absolutely must have or need to run something from it, which is mostly gamers, and now that Steam for Linux can run most MS Windows games even they do not need Wine except through Steam. ![]() The Linux Wine system is very innovative and works well for some things, but can be a security risk for applications that access the Internet. Hi PartsAbuser, and others interested in installing this,
